Erica DeVoe has been teaching for 12 years in the English department at Westerly High School and is in her 5th year as the Department Chairperson. She earned her BS from the University of Connecticut in Human Development and Family Studies and, after a year of traveling and earning her teaching credentials, she settled in Westerly. She earned her Masters Degree from the University of Scranton in Curriculum and Instruction in 2008 and became a Nationally Board Certified teacher in Adolescent and Young Adult ELA in 2013. In 2015, she joined the second cohort of Fuse Fellows through RI’s Highlander Institute, which helps scale blended learning practices across RI. Her passion is making secondary education relevant and meaningful for 21st century youth so that they can become conscientious and critical consumers and communicators, whether in online or offline spaces.
